South Chickamauga Creek Greenway Nearly Complete

Land trust partnerships have been instrumental in connecting critical wildlife corridors across the Cumberland Plateau. By linking protected areas, we help ensure that species like the cerulean warbler, Indiana bat, and Cumberland rosemary maintain viable populations for generations to come.

The restoration of native warm-season grasses on reclaimed mine lands has created valuable early-successional habitat for grassland birds and pollinators. These restored areas, while different from the original forest, serve important ecological functions and demonstrate that damaged landscapes can be returned to productive natural communities.
