On a perfect cool night in the Tennessee River Gorge, temperature and humidity work together to set the stage for an awe-inspiring scene that is revealed at daybreak. If the conditions are just right, a river of clouds form just above the water’s surface below the mountains. This mesmerizing weather event is called a cloud inversion.
Friends of South Cumberland

The Friends of South Cumberland are looking for volunteers to help move lumber and other construction materials to the site of a new trail staircase project at Greeter Falls in Savage Gulf on Saturday, Sept. 17, which is "National Public Lands Day". *
Also, by popular demand, a new mid-point campground is being constructed along the Fiery Gizzard Trail. Volunteers are needed on Sept. 29 and 30 to help with the project.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held recently to commemorate the opening of the newly reconstructed elk viewing tower on Hatfield Knob of North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area.
Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center

Reflection Riding is working alongside the Downtown Rotary Club to lead a volunteer clean-up of Lookout Creek in partnership with the Tennessee River Rescue. Lookout Creek runs along Reflection Riding's 300-acre campus, which makes it a great spot to engage volunteers in some hands-on conservation work. This year, clean-up efforts are expanding to include Black Creek.
