Crow Creek, which flows into the Tennessee River near Stevenson, Alabama, is one of my favorite places for canoeing. Upstream from the Crow Creek Refuge within the 2, 069 acre Crow Creek Wildlife Management Area, the creek channel narrows and winds through a more forested environment as part of a maze of creeks and side sloughs that are still controlled by Guntersville Dam.

This butterfly accompanied us for much of the trip upstream.
