Many in the hiking community were concerned in 2015 when it was announced that a section of the popular 12.5 mile Fiery Gizzard Trail might be closed. But with much hard work by park staff and volunteers, a 1.5 mile section of new trail was constructed through adjacent park property, bypassing the section to be closed.
Recently, a second landowner requested for the trail to be removed from his property by December 1, 2016, requiring the construction of an additional mile of new trail. Read more.
