On April 16th, about 16 people joined a hike I co-led with Sarah Quattrochi on Little Cedar Mountain. This was one in a series of hikes hosted by the Tennessee River Gorge Trust in and near the river gorge known as "Getting to Know the Gorge" hikes.
This is a three and a half mile trail on a tract owned by TVA. There are three overlooks with views of Nickajack Lake. Wildlife, including deer and turkey, is plentiful on the mountain.
The Nickajack Coalition has been involved with trail maintenance at the site but more work needs to be done, especially blazing, as parts of the trail can be difficult to follow.
If you'd like to exlore the trail, from Chattanooga, take I-24 West to Exit #158 (the one with the big fireworks store in the median). Then turn left and imediately after going under the interstate, turn left onto a gravel drive which goes to a parking area next to the interstate right-of-way. A gravel trailhead leads to a footbridge, then the trail makes a sharp right.

The Nickajack Naturalist
This has quickly become my fave small distance trail to hike now. Living just about 3 miles from the trail, I'm usually out on the trail at least twice a week. It is so quiet & serene out on the trail, & the bluff overlooks are just so great.Would love to see more people discover this place, & see just how good of a trail this really is
